Hello World!

LocationTwitch, https://www.twitch.tv/middlesbroughfe

In light of the recent events with COVID-19 we are mixing things up a bit and welcome you to the first of many (we hope!) MFE live streams. For this event we'll be plugging into the Twitch service, streaming our speakers to people across the globe and quite literally saying "Hello World".

How exciting?!

Join us on the 26th March at 18:30pm GMT on our Twitch Page - https://www.twitch.tv/middlesbroughfe

Empathy in Accessibility

Craig Abbott

This talk is about building empathy for users with impairments, making sure we are aware of how to design services that don’t disable people. Examples of things that have tripped me up in the past as well as suggesting tools we can use to help us test our designs.

Building Maps with Impact on React and the JAMstack

Colby Fayock

We take for granted being able to find a local coffee shop or nearby gas station using the map on our phone. Those maps not only help find a boost towards the end of the day - they help scientists and first responders save lives around the world. With the power of Javascript and the JAMstack, we’ll walk through what libraries help make creating mapping tools possible. We’ll talk about how maps impact all of our lives and some of the technical challenges faced when developing the mapping tools scientists use every day to debug the earth.
